Bramley Parish Council – February 2010 – Jane Payne Two important events were discussed at the meeting and dates are now available to add to your diaries. The first is the date for the inquiry to register the Longbridge Rd play area as a Village Green which will open on 26th April and the second is the Highways Consultation which will take place on 10th March. Both events will take place at the Village Hall and both will be publicised through the formal process. The history surrounding the open space at the top of Longbridge Road is long and complicated and the inquiry will be chaired by an HCC Inspector who will visit the site and hear the case from both the formal Applicants for Village Green status (the residents of Longbridge Road) and the Objectors (the owners of the land). The inquiry can last for up to 3 days and while the usual sitting hours are 10-5pm the sitting can be extended into the evening if required. The Highways Consultation is a pilot for HCC to gather the input of local people about local roads and future strategy. Representatives from the Highways Authority will be available from 2-7pm and it is thought that current HCC plans will be made available through displays and discussion. The Parish Council has previously voted to make £10,000 available to the Trustees of Clift Meadow for children’s swings. These funds are S106 money allocated from housing developments in the village and must be spent on play equipment. Cllrs Tottenham and Ferguson outlined the project, gave the Council an update on progress so far and talked about the options being considered. Timescales aren’t known but a lot of energy is going into selecting the best equipment and once agreed an order will be placed. Updates were heard on the German Road development where it is expected that a large number of houses will be ready for occupation by Easter, from Friends of Farriers on the Little Apples Planning Application, which is on hold pending fencing re-design and questions relating to traffic projections, and the British Legion land. The 6 monthly Parish Newsletter should pop through your letterbox in mid March and any contributions should be submitted to the Clerk by the end of February. Once again the newsletter will be printed in the village, this time by Ridgeway Press on Campbell Rd. Full meeting minutes are available on notice boards, at the Post Office and on the village website (www.bramleyhampshire-pc.gov.uk). The next Parish Council meeting is on Monday 15th March, 7.30pm at the Village Hall.
