Bramley Parish Council – Meeting Notes September ’09 At the recent Parish Council meeting on September 21st two questions stood out from the rest of the issues discussed. These questions are ...
Does Bramley need a new community facility, a property which would serve the village for the next 50 years? With the sale of the British Legion land, opportunity knocks for the village to acquire this site and build new premises funded by the proceeds of the sale of the existing village hall site. Chairman Richard Wood will set out terms of reference for a sub committee to consider this, and other sites in the village. While the Parish Council may propose a strategy this project cannot move forward without the support of the Village. The ongoing financial viability of all community buildings must also be taken into consideration. The second question is raising much debate on the Bramley Google group (webadmin@bramleyhampshire-pc.gov.uk) and that is the proposed development of dedicated premises for Little Apples pre-school on land at Forge Field (Farriers Close). In 2003 it was proposed that a community facility be built on the same site and, after much lobbying and a survey of 1219 village households, this was turned down. An open meeting has been arranged by Little Apples pre-school to take place on Friday 9th Oct, 7pm, at the Village Hall, when the current plans will be discussed. This open space is used as a park and while the building itself has a small footprint it’s the issues of traffic and parking (official and unofficial) that are generating the most comment.
On a positive note the team who have signed up to work on the Parish Plan will be meeting in mid-October. Generally it takes 12-18months for a full plan to be published – the process involves significant public consultation and both questions above would be included. The Parish Plan includes any initiative going on in the village; it is the one document that sums up what the community want for the future. Full meeting minutes are available on notice boards, at the Post Office and on the village website (www.bramleyhampshire-pc.gov.uk). The next Parish Council meeting is on Monday 19th October, 7.30pm at the Village Hall.
